I am writing this article to shed light on the CSS exam, this is my main goal behind writing this article. In the country inspiring respect, admiration and high status are achieved by the CSS exam. This article is about What is CSS in Pakistan?

CSS stands for?

CSS stands for Central Superior Service Exam. FPSC is an acronym of the Federal Public Service Commission conducted CSS Exam.

In 1926, for the first time in British India, the Public Service Commission was set up.  Under the provision of the Government of India Act,1935. In Pakistan commission was established in 1947 after independence. Under article 242 of the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the commission is working. CSS Exam is an acronym for Central Superior Service Exam. FPSC is an acronym of the Federal Public Service Commission conducted CSS Exam.

For the recruitment of candidates in different services such as Railways Group, Income Tax Group, Commerce and Trade Service, Police Service Of Pakistan, Postal Service Group, Information Group, District Management Group, Cantonments Groups and Military Lands and Pakistan Foreign Service, which are under Federal Government to various posts of (BS-17)  CSS Exam is conducted.

Eligibility Criteria For CSS Exam

The candidate should have the nationality of Pakistan or the candidate should be a permanent resident of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The candidate should have at least 2nd division in Bachelor’s Degree from a university that is recognized by HEC. 21 to 30 years is the age limit for an applicant for applying in CSS Exam. The applicant who is a government employee or working with recognized areas and tributes for them age limit is relaxed by 2 years. For them, the maximum age is 32 years.

FPSC introduced a new rule for the CSS exam in 2022. If you are interested to appear in the CSS exam you should pass the CSS screening test before the written test.

Following are the four stages of the CSS Exam:

Firstly, the candidate goes through a written examination and then there is Medical Test. After clearing the medical test there is Psychological Test. And the last stage is Viva Voce.

How to apply for CSS Exam:

In September of each year, in all newspapers reflecting dates and CSS Exam advertisements are published. Under the account head, in the nearest State Bank of Pakistan/National Bank of Pakistan/Govt. Treasury, Exam fee is a deposit. The next step is on the official website of FPSC, fill the online application form and take a print of it. Along with copies of bank receipt and your qualification documents dispatch the hard copies to the to headquarter of FPSC, Islamabad.

40 marks in each subject are minimum passing marks. 600 marks overall are required for qualifying for the next step.

What are the criteria for CSS?

Basic elements to know about CSS Exam:
While applying for CSS 2022, your age on 31st December 2021 should neither be more than 30 years nor less than 21 years.
The competitor has to appear in the four parts of the CSS Exam i.e.
Written, Medical, Psychological test  Viva-voce.
The below-mentioned procedure has to be followed for applying for CSS Exam.
Deposit the exam fee in the closest State Bank of Pakistan / National Bank of Pakistan under the account head “CO2102-Organs of State Exam Fee (FPSC Receipt).
Fill in the ‘Online Application Form’ on the authorized website of FPSC.

What is the passing marks in CSS?

To pass the CSS examination you require to achieve at least 600 marks. However, your allotment is apparent if you get around 650 marks in the written exam. You need 180 out of 300 marks in the interview. However, merit is varied for several regions and each province has a particular quota.
The minimum mark for qualifying mandatory paper is 40 % and for elective paper is 33 %.
 The competitor preparing for the written test will be shortlisted for further parts medical, psychological test and Viva-voce.
The aspirant can apply for rechecking of his or her manuscript.
