Darood Sharif is a traditional Islamic prayer that is often recited in honour of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is believed to bring blessings and protection from harm. The exact words of the Darood Sharif vary depending on the specific tradition, but it generally begins with the phrase “Bismillah” (In the name of Allah) and ends with “Allahumma Salli ala Muhammad” (O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad). Some Muslims recite the Darood Sharif regularly as a form of devotion and spiritual practice, while others recite it on special occasions or to seek blessings or guidance.
Importance of Darood Sharif:
There are several verses in the Quran that mention the importance of Darood, which is the act of praising and glorifying Allah.
One such verse is found in Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 56, which states: “Surely Allah and His angels bless the Prophet. O you who have believed, ask blessings on him and greet him with a peaceable greeting.”
Another verse, found in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 152, states: “And do not forget to speak of Allah’s name upon you when you rise and when you are seated.”
These verses show the importance of regularly praising and glorifying Allah through Darood, as well as the importance of greeting the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with respect and reverence.
