Education System In Pakistan

Education System In Pakistan

What is education?

Education System In Pakistan: Education is the basic right of every people. It is a primary need for the development of mankind. Education tells us a better way of living our lives. It guides us in every aspect of life, education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Education spread light in one’s life, it makes individual differentiate between misconceptions and blind belief. The education system in Pakistan is very poor compared to many other countries of the world.

Due to the lack of interest by the government and their keen interest in other affairs for the last few decades. The government of Pakistan has failed to introduce a single education system in the country.

The education system here is divided into six levels.

  1. Pre-Primary schools
  2. Primary schools (class I-V)
  3. Middle schools (class VI-VIII)
  4. Secondary schools (class IX-X)
  5. Higher secondary schools (class XI-XII)
  6. University level (Graduation/Master)

Presently today in Pakistan the education institution is following two kinds of education systems which are one private sector and the other government sector. These two sectors serve the educational needs of the general public. We must agree to this that the education system of the private sector is more than satisfactory as they provide good teaching staff to their students and the syllabus they teach is also very satisfactory. They also provide necessary extracurricular activities to their students which help them in learning.

But the real and main problem is with the public or government sector’s education as they neither have good teaching staff nor they have teachers which are well qualified for the teaching job, and I think that is the biggest problem of them all. Then the second main problem is the syllabus and the courses are not up to the mark.

There are zero extracurricular activities in the public sector too which makes it duller. Apart from these differences, there is a huge difference in teaching style and teacher behaviour in both sectors. Teachers are friendlier and more cooperative with their students in private institutes. In these institutes, students are able to learn more with more comfort and an open mind. On the other hand, there is no such type of behaviour common in the public sector.

The government schools failed to deliver quality education to the children we can see that only poor people send their children to public institutes because they are unable to afford the high fees of private schools.

Which is to be done is that the government should impose the same syllabus in both public and private institutions in order to eliminate this class-based education system and should learn the same. Another major issue is the lack of funds the government gives a small number of funds which is not enough for the development of a system according to a report 81% of funds are reserved for the salaries of teachers and the rest is for the infrastructure and other expenses.

The biggest problem is the gender difference. Gender difference is another one of the big problems which is the restriction towards the progressive literacy rate. In many areas parents don’t allow their daughters to go to schools and colleges, they are made bound to homes and household work. Women are the backbone of any nation they can change the whole nation and for the educated nation, it is necessary to have educated mothers.

Some of the flaws of the education system in Pakistan.

  1. Theoretical (Not Practical) Education
  2. Outdated (20 years old Syllabus)
  3. No Teaching Quality
  4. No Unity (Different Curriculum/Syllabus)
  5. Limited Fields Offered
  6. No Career Counselling (difficult to Choose Field)
  7. Education Become a Profitable Business
  8. No Check and Balance
  9. No or Less Security

Things to be done to improve the education system.

  • Free Education.
  • Scholarships
  • Focus on the Parents
  • Practical Education
  • Career Counseling

  • Teachers Qualification
  • Teachers Training

It sees hopelessness when it comes to the policymakers of Pakistan. Every year policy for education is reviewed by the government but the results remain the same: The illiteracy rate keeps on rising in Pakistan. It’s high time we should focus all our energies on that because education is the biggest tool of all in order to be a successful nation otherwise it is going to be too late for Pakistan.

What could be done is that the government should form a research team as soon as possible which would try to find out which type of education system is in the larger interest of the country, and which system is preferred. Professionals from different fields including doctors, businessmen, engineers, lawyers etc. should also take a keen interest in this in order to strengthen the education system in Pakistan. These people should be made part of this team so a consensus could be formed on the type of education system for the children of Pakistan.

There is no doubt in the thing that the solution lies in a single education system for all children across the country which will provide them with a quality education and being provided is of international standard.
